Home from a well deserved vaca- and right back into the move. The new tenants came by again (with hubs in tow this time) for the final viewing and approval. It feels REALLY good to have that taken care of. Nice to have the house passed off to good people.
The Big House- Bossman & I spent the afternoon at the big house, taking over a load & soaking in the indescribable splendor of it all (ok, it can be described- take the movie Legend & mix it with camping trips I took as a child [so... you'll have to be a VERY small subset of my readership to fully understand what I am describing.]) We wandered the property & followed the creek back up to the road. We might as well have been out in the middle of the forest.
It was amazing & exhilarating- we are SO blessed. This house & property is proof that good things happen to good people. We were meant to have the appreciation of this land for a bit- and we will not squander the opportunity. That is a promise.

Frugal Turkey Containment Facility
Flattened tomato cages + yarn stash + nesting box = turkey playpen. The Tweedles thought it was great fun until I came in the house, now they are crying like crazy out there. I will say though, that it's the only way some of the hens have come close to them. I'm not sure if they can tell the Tweedles are not chickens, but they do NOT want to have anything to do with them- they will squawk & run anytime on of the babies approaches. The babies think this is great fun & run fast to catch up.
It's amazing to me the difference between chicks & poults. Right off the bat, the Tweedles are so much heartier & advanced than the chicks were at even 4 weeks. They are like 'roided up chicks- they jump & run with wings flapping & eat anything they can fit in their mouths.

Ch-ch-ch-changes!!
Our lovely nest is about to get MUCH bigger!! We are 13 days away from moving into our new house. It is big, and beautiful, and such a wonderful change of life. Mentally, we're already there- and we find all kinds of excuses to go to the big house, when what we really need to be doing is packing or cleaning our old house.
Last night, in an act of spontaneity, I added 2 new babies to our flock. The Tweedles (we cannot REALLY name them, seems silly to get too attached.) will be growing by leaps & bounds. Stay tuned for updates on feather development, and how the girls accept them.
